SAN FRANCISCO – August 17, 2010 — Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of multi-platform database tools and developer software, today announced the second of three Embarcadero® RAD Studio XE sneak previews leading up to the launch of the new application development suite in early September. The upcoming “2011” release will be named RAD Studio XE and will include Delphi® XE, C++Builder® XE, Delphi Prism™ XE and RadPHP™ XE.

The second sneak preview reveals new tools for developers to automate, manage and add additional functionality to their build processes. Several new tools are being added to RAD Studio XE to help streamline the development process through build automation, code quality assurance using static analysis, performance profiling, memory and resource debugging, and logging.

New RAD Studio XE tools revealed in this second preview include:

FinalBuilder Embarcadero Edition includes features to define, debug, maintain, run and schedule repeatable build processes

Command line audits, metrics and documention generation to add even more functionality to automated builds

AQTime Standard with profiling features to deliver high-performance applications

CodeSite Express with logging tools to assist with building high-quality applications

“Most developers would argue that time constraints and scope creep make it impossible for them to work any harder, so the alternative is to work smarter – accomplish more in less time and automate all of the repeatable tasks,” said Michael Swindell, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Embarcadero Technologies. “With the new tools that we’re incorporating into RAD Studio XE, developers can focus on coding the important stuff and automate the rest.”

The RAD Studio XE release also marks the extension of the new XE brand and capability set to Embarcadero’s application development line, including RAD Studio and each standalone tool in the suite. XE products are distinguished by three key components: support for multiple database types and deployment environments; Embarcadero® ToolCloud technology for centralized license management and on-demand tool access; and an easy upgrade path to Embarcadero® All-Access™ XE.

As with all Embarcadero tools, the RAD Studio XE suite of products will also be available via the Embarcadero All-Access toolbox.

Throughout August, Embarcadero will be showcasing sneak previews to show what’s in store for RAD Studio XE with its new versions of Delphi XE, C++Builder XE, Delphi Prism XE and, now, RadPHP XE.

Presentation Details

Conference session time slots will be 45 minutes in length running a 30-35 minute pre-recorded technical presentation followed by 10-15 minutes of live questions andanswers with attendees. Sessions will be broadcast using Microsoft® Live Meeting.

Speakers are required to pre-record their presentations to a 1024×768 resolution SWF (Flash) file using screen recording software such as Camtasia Studio (using the trial version is acceptable), Final Cut Pro or similar. Please refer to John Kaster’s blog post available at http://blogs.embarcadero.com/johnk/2005/03/04/2880 for helpful information on how to make Flash recordings.

We encourage speakers to also submit presentation outlines, PowerPoint slides (.ppt) and/or a technical paper with their final presentations as well.

IMPORTANT: Sessions will be of a technical nature and will not reflect marketing information unless submitted specifically as a Partner Solution.

Target Audience

We anticipate approximately 2,000 CodeRage online conference attendees which include developers from large corporations, government agencies, small and medium-sized companies, educators, and independent consulting businesses.

Attendees have a varied level of experience, and topics range from beginning to advanced levels. Selecting and gearing your presentation to a specific audience expertise level is very important, so please consider the level of your presentation proposals carefully.

Use of Proprietary Code

The primary purpose of conference presentations is to educate attendees on Embarcadero database and development technologies, products, and content which can assist attendees with their professional skills. Only under special circumstances will we accept presentations that demonstrate proprietary code or techniques, or rely upon proprietary products. If your presentation will contain anything you cannot share freely with the audience, please notify us in your abstract.

In a success story presentation, the code/technique/process may be proprietary, but you must be prepared to fully explain all of the techniques you demonstrate, either in a technical paper or in response to questions from the audience. For a success story presentation, speakers must have permission from the end user/client to have their company named in their presentation, paper, conference advertising, and the conference agenda.

Speaker Meetings

An online speaker meeting will be held in September upon acceptance of abstract proposals to familiarize speakers with the Live Meeting interface and to answer questions about recording presentations and the format of the event.

Speaker meetings with small groups of speakers will also be held 1 week prior to the conference to test submitted presentations and audio connections. Speaker attendance is required.

Presentation Publication

IMPORTANT: Once selected, each speaker MUST submit their 30 minute pre-recorded presentation by the indicated deadline (see above).

All session presentations will be published on Embarcadero’s ChannelE web site as replays. Examples of presentations from CodeRage 4 held in September 2009 are available at http://conferences.embarcadero.com/coderage/sessions.

Embarcadero Technologies may choose to sell a conference proceedings DVD outside of this conference or to publish presentations in any media separately. Accordingly, submission of materials to Embarcadero will constitute your granting Embarcadero an irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, distribute, modify, and sub-license your materials by any means including electronic distribution. All speakers are required to sign a release agreeing to the above.

Questions & Answers

CodeRage will focus on what developers want and need to learn to stay current in our ever transforming industry. We’ve created this document to address some of the questions that may arise.

Q. When will the list of actual sessions be published?
A. A short list of sessions that are planned for the conference will be published by early September after session selections have been finalized. The complete program listing will be published by mid September.

Q. Who is making decisions regarding which topics will be included in the program and who will be chosen as speakers?
A. An internal selection committee comprised of Embarcadero employees representing each of the product groups will choose the topics to be covered and the speakers who will present them. We will notify submitters in late August regarding the status of their proposals.

Q. Can I submit abstracts for sessions that market my products?
A. Only Embarcadero Technology Partners and CodeRage Exhibitors will be selected to present a limited number of Partner Solution sessions.

Q. If I’m selected as a speaker, will I get paid?
A. Sorry, speakers will not be paid a stipend for this event. Attendance to the event is free and we feel the exposure provided to speakers is invaluable.

Q. If I’m selected as a speaker, may I attend other sessions as well?
A. Yes. Speakers may attend any other presentations they wish.

We would love to receive your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve the technical program of this event. Please send your comments to Anders Ohlsson (anders.ohlsson@embarcadero.com) and Christine Ellis (christine.ellis@embarcadero.com).

The concept of the “master” data repository implies that there is one and only one instance of each conceptual entity within the organization’s data environment. Yet over time, siloed business process, application, and data model development has led to diversity in representations of similar concepts across the different applications. So while the concept of multi-domain master data management maps from the “silo” approach, it conflicts with the idea that the same entity might exist more than once in different contexts.

Join MDM expert, David Loshin, for an insightful discussion on the importance of developing master data models and the challenges and success strategies when developing master data models.

In this one hour webinar, you’ll learn:

Understanding the type of master data concepts used across the enterprise

Differentiating between entity and the role that the entity plays in each context

Understanding the relationships among the different entities within and across contexts

Embarcadero Technologies and healthcare IT expert Shahid Shah on Wednesday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. EDT for an insightful one-hour webinar that explores the impact of Meaningful Use (MU) and the certification of electronic health record (EHR) systems on data management professionals.

To register for this free webinar, visit the registration site.

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, created an opportunity to improve the performance of the nation’s health system through an unprecedented investment in health information technology. However, healthcare entities must implement 25 major MU requirements into their EHR systems to qualify for a piece of the billions of dollars in government incentive funds.

Healthcare architects, developers and DBAs developing information systems must be thoroughly familiar with MU to understand how the requirements will change their existing and future implementations. A recent survey of healthcare IT professionals conducted by Embarcadero shows that close to 60% are in the process of implementing an EHR system.

Webinar attendees will learn:
• An explanation of ARRA, HITECH, MU, and certification
• How technical personnel such as data architects, DBAs and developers will be affected by MU
• The best ways to determine the MU gaps that might be found in existing systems
• The types of additional expertise technical personnel may need to meet MU
• How quickly systems will need to be modified and deployed to adhere to MU rules

Registered webinar attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of Shahid Shah’s white paper, “How Meaningful Use Impacts Healthcare Data Management Professionals.”

About the Speaker
Shahid N. Shah is an internationally recognized and influential healthcare IT thought leader who is known as "The Healthcare IT Guy" across the Internet. He is an Embarcadero consultant and he also advises various federal agencies on IT matters. Shahid has architected and built multiple clinical solutions over his almost 20-year career and he is a winner of the Federal Computer Week coveted Fed 100 award, which is given to IT experts who have made a big impact in the government. He helped design and deploy the American Red Cross’s EHR solution across thousands of sites; he’s built two web-based EMRs now in use by hundreds of physicians; he’s designed large groupware and collaboration sites in use by thousands; and, as an ex-CTO for a billion dollar division of CardinalHealth, he helped design advanced clinical interfaces for medical devices and hospitals. Shahid also serves as a senior technology strategy advisor to NIH’s SBIR/STTR program helping small businesses commercialize their healthcare applications.
